All good things come in as software updates π It seems that in one of the newer releases the car doesn’t require you to put the key card on the center console to be able to turn it on. According to this article, the car has now a memory, around two minutes, and it allows you to turn on the car if you just unlocked it. Convenient!
John from TOSV asked and Elon confirmed. In the future, it would be great if Tesla turns it on automatically based on the quality of the air. Honestly, with all these wildfires, I’m waiting for Tesla to release the retrofit to the Model Y.
It looks much better and includes a couple of improvements that I think are really well received: being able to send commands to the car without having to wait for your car to wake you (e.g. turning on the AC when leaving the store), and for folks with 2+ Teslas, now the phone-as-key works without having to select the appropriate car on the app beforehand. Have you updated yet? Anything else that you like? Something that you are missing?
This Redittor found text in the new Tesla App (v4) that hints to a future where referrals could be used for Supercharging, merchandise, or vehicle software upgrades.
Service seems to be one of the areas where Tesla still needs to scale a bit more - mobile service is great but sometimes you need a full-service center - as they keep on selling cars. Good to see that Elon is on top of this issue.
For those who want to repair their own cars or are thinking about tinkering with them, now Tesla offers a subscription to their Diagnostic Software for $333 a month or $2000 / year.
Cool video from Tesla China showing the factory producing a car from start to finish.
FSD v10 will be rolling out to testers midnight Friday next week. Elon is hoping that v10.1 will have “the button”, just two weeks after the release of v10. “The button” will allow folks to opt-in to the FSD Beta. Can’t waitΒ π€
Great, detailed, and simple explanation of what Tesla presented during AI Day. Fantastic writeup π
If you were waiting for an SR+ and you don’t mind the change, the range of the battery is a bit lower but in theory, you can charge to 100% without degradation, you can now switch to one of these. Take a look!
For Model 3 and Y owners: Tap the speed limit sign to adjust AP or TACC to the speed shown by the speed limit icon, or the speed limit icon plus the offset that you have in your preferences. Alternatively, you can pull down the AP stalk and hold it for a couple of seconds for the same effect.
For Model S and X owners: You can pull the AP stalk to you and hold it to achieve the same speed adjustment.
As Tesla fan I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
