Issue 163 - Cybertruck to the mooooon!

Cybertruck & Model Y

Cybertruck spotted driving through NYC

Cybertruck to the mooooon! ☝️

Cybertruck has a camera below the front bumper

I haven’t seen this before but someone captured it while the Cybertruck was visiting NYC. I think if Tesla decided to add a camera, there goes the last spot that they need for a 360 view while parking. I hope this reaches production.

Model Y LR price increased another $500

The price of the Model Y LR AWD keeps increasing. 3 months ago, we paid $3,000 less than what it costs today. Its current price is $51,490.

Model Y 7-seater with 3 car seats

Depending on your family this configuration might work for you. In the picture, we can see two seats in the third row and an infant seat in the middle row. Thank you u/Cessna172Pilot for sharing!

Energy

Why is Tesla killing and saving solar?

Great video by our friends at EveryAmp about where they think Tesla is pushing the future of Solar flipping the game on the utilities. Storage is going to be part of the equation, the question is how to make it fair, and is renting storage from the grid going to be a good option?

Tesla shifts battery chem for its Megapack energy storage system

Tesla is shifting to cobalt-free lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. The tradeoff here is less costly but also less energy-dense batteries. The Megapack is designed to require 40% less space and fewer parts than other systems on the market. Pretty amazing what Tesla is doing to innovate in the energy space!

Tesla Powerpack Module Teardown

Ingineerix got their hands on a module from a Tesla Powerpack, really cool to see what it is inside and how it works.

Autopilot

Autopilot tracks some interesting attributes

Greentheonly revealed a few videos where Autopilot is tagging things like ‘policeman pedestrian’, ‘construction pedestrian’, or ‘school bus’. It also tries to read the labels on the stop signals, like ‘all-way’. I love seeing what AP sees πŸ˜ƒ

DIY

Weathertight UMC housing I built for the wife

If your UMC is outdoors, you might want to consider some type of enclosing to avoid it ending up breaking due to the weather conditions. This Reddit user showed us what he built for $85, “$30 for the post $30 for the stainless hardware $15 paint $10 electrical box and receptacle”.

DIY Protection with Feynlab

Feynlab’s DIY products follow a regimen: Preparation, Protection, Maintenance. First Prepare the paint by washing with Pure Wash, followed by Panel Prep to remove any residual oil or contaminants. Then Protect your Tesla using Ceramic Lite - the easiest coating to apply. Then Maintain the coating with Pure Wash, and if you want that extra touch of protection, follow it up with Ceramic Spray Sealant every couple of months. Get a free quote.

πŸ’‘ Tip of the week

You can share an address directly from your smartphone to your Tesla and for that, all you need is to install the Tesla app. Once you've done that, from maps or Yelp, press the share button and select the Tesla app. If the Tesla app is not visible, select the option "more" to move it to the favorites. Once you share it, your car will start the navigation system to it.

πŸ€“ What the acronym?

As Tesla fan I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.

  • AP - Autopilot
  • AWD - All-Wheel Drive
  • LR - Long Range
  • UMC - Universal Mobile Connector
