Issue 124 - Advanced air suspension settings and visualization 🚘 πŸŽ›

Software & Hardware Updates

Advanced air suspension settings and visualization

The latest software update, 2020.32.1, introduces some advanced configuration settings for air suspension to the Raven Model S and Model X. No more randomly saving settings by default and other enhancements. Check it out!

See how Autopilot will display Tesla vehicles

We talked about this last week, and this week we’re sharing a new renderization brought to you on Twitter by @greentheonly. The new visualization shows the Model S, 3, X, and Y how Autopilot would show them. @greentheonly also said that ambulances, fire trucks, police cars, and ‘construction’ vehicles will be coming, but not there yet.

Tesla launches its own car wrap service

Tesla has launched its own car wrap service through delivery centers starting with five cities in China. The official Tesla customer service Weibo account announced it last week.

Model Y & Model 3

Tesla Model Y owner shares how to camp on top of his car

The Kilowatts writes that electric vehicles are ideal for car-camping and even short overlanding trips. Looking at the data they shared, a night spent with Camp Mode active versus driving with The Rooftop Tent has approximately the same effect on battery power. So there you go, you can choose whatever option best fits your trip and preferences.

Autocross - Tesla Model 3 Performance

Pretty cool to see how well the Model 3 Performance handles the course. The Model 3 is 100% stock except for the wheels and tires. The author used RaceRender to render the CSV data generated by Track Mode on top of the video.

EV Charging

Changes coming to 'Destination Charger' program

The main change introduced is the ability to let businesses collect payments for charging. Tesla now leaves purchase and installation up to the business, but that will be the total cost for businesses that opt in to charge through electric costs. There will not be any fear of getting surprised by the ongoing costs of customers using it. That’s way easier to fit into a budget for all kinds of businesses.

Tesla reduces CCS upgrade prices in Europe

Tesla has reduced the price for the CCS upgrade of the Model S and Model X for V3 superchargers in Europe from 500 to 299 euros. The new price was negotiated by European Tesla clubs. I still hope that Tesla extends CCS to the USA at some point.

Installing new Race Deck Tiles

My friend Rafael (aka Teslatino) recently removed the old ceramic tiles from his garage floor (installed by a previous owner) which had been destroyed by his Model 3, and installed tough plastic tiles to renew the look and comfort of his garage. Great job, it looks amazing!

Johnny Cash's Rolls-Royce is now a converted Tesla with a touchscreen in the trunk

Johnny Cash’s 1970 Rolls-Royce has been converted into an electric car using a Tesla powertrain and other parts. The conversion was done by ShiftEV, which does a lot of these types of custom projects. Ok, this might be a bit off-topic for this newsletter but it was too cool to not add it ;)

What would be really cool is if Tesla someday decided to sell ‘conversion kits’. After all, this would align very well with its mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
