For a long time, the theory behind Tesla’s AP2+ not recognizing speed limit signs was the existence of a patent by Mobileeye. It seems like Tesla has been able to get around it since Elon Musk has recently said that it’s coming soon in a reply to Everyday Astronaut (@Erdayastronaut) on Twitter. Hopefully, Tesla will roll out a hybrid solution, we will see!
Another Twitter promise, this time about a section to know how many miles have you driven with AP. It would be even cooler if they expose this via their API, I’m sure some folks would do cool things with that info!
Elon’s obsession with making Teslas the most fun cars to drives doesn’t stop. He recently asked on Twitter about ideas to get a multiplayer Minecraft, augmented reality games like PokΓ©mon Go, or versions of Pacman and Mario Kart, to work in a Tesla. I would personally love a version of the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite to safely play in my future Model Y.
Tesla has started a pilot to share when charging rates are lower according to demand and electricity rates in your area. Smart move since it’s a big win for Tesla owners but, in addition, it should be able to reduce waiting times at busy Superchargers, especially during peak hours.
It’s official, the German Economy Minister recently said that he did not expect any significant delays to occur at Tesla’s first European production plant. Happy to hear the good news.
Elon Musk hinted at the next-generation Tesla Roadster being delayed to at least 2022 and maybe even later. This makes sense if you think about the current situation and Tesla not wanting to miss the opportunity of the Model Y becoming Tesla’s best selling car, apart from ramping up production of the Semi and the Cybertruck.
What are the Octovalve and Heat Pump components of a Model Y? What functions do they perform?
The cantonal police of Basel-City in Switzerland have added 7 Model X in their fleet since April 2019. 40,000 km later they haven’t observed any notable quality defects. They have had to make some modifications e.g. ballistic protected parts, but they have received a license from Tesla to convert the vehicles themselves which is great so they won’t lose the warranty.
The article goes on about the type of advantages a Model X brings to the cantonal police of Basel. They also think the Cybertruck could even be more suitable, but on the other side, it may look too martial for the city. What do you think?
As Tesla fan I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
