Software and Owners Manual

New Tesla app update adds tire pressure measurements and power wall tutorials

Small additions but very helpful. You can now find your car’s tire pressure measurements in the Tesla app and, if you’re a Powerwall owner, the tutorials will be available in the app as well.

New normal operating sounds and examples

Tesla has added a new section about ’normal’ operating sounds that also comes with examples. Great addition especially for new Tesla owners so they know they exist and nothing’s wrong with your Tesla. I find particularly good the chime on green for traffic lights and I normally can’t handle any sounds coming out from the car.

AI

Tesla releases new deep-dive presentations on its Dojo AI supercomputer

Dojo is Tesla’s in-house supercomputer for Machine Learning. According to previous information released, Dojo should help automate a lot of the manual labeling and reduce the cost of Tesla’s AI cluster at the same time. In a recent presentation, Tesla shared more details about Dojo’s architecture and its processing pipeline.

Future changes

Model 3 and Y to lose steering wheel stalks; gain touch-sensitive wheel a la Model S

According to @ChrisZheng001, Model 3 and Model Y will be releasing a new steering wheel. According to him, the new steering wheel will remove the stalks and incorporate touch-sensitive controls, like the refreshed Model S and Model X. Personally, unless they improve the buttons, by giving them haptic feedback and probably some physical indicator that allows me to find them without looking, this isn’t great news. Let’s see if this rumor actually becomes true.

Starlink announced this week that they will be providing cellular data for T-mobile where the carrier doesn’t reach, and while we normally don’t cover any Starlink announcements, this seems relevant since it will affect Tesla owners in the future. In a response to our friend John from TOSV, Elon confirmed that Tesla will be getting this service as well with the premium connectivity package, making Tesla cars the most connected vehicle in the world.

Tips & Tricks

How to fix an oily/stained window trim in 3 minutes

Thanks to this Redditor, we now know that using Weiman Stainless Steel cleaner works to get rid of the oily stains in the window trim. According to multiple comments, those stains can be the result of the triple foam applied by some car washes, if this happens to you, just remember this trick!

California

New California rule will cut costs of home EV charging

Great news for not only for Tesla owners but also for all EV owners in California. Up until now, having a second meter to measure EV electricity was required in order to be able to get different rates for EV charging and for the house. Well, now this is changing which opens up options for better rates and vehicle-to-everything charging.

🤓 What the acronym?

As Tesla fan I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.

  • AI - Artificial Intelligence
  • EV - Electric Vehicle
  • TOSV - Tesla Owners Silicon Valley
