Issue 195 - V11 AKA the Holiday update

Software Updates

Release notes for the holiday update

Hopefully, you have received the holiday update by the time you get this email, but in case you haven’t, here is a sneak peek at what the update brings to you:

  • Light Show, this was a Model X exclusive until now
  • Customizable App Launcher
  • Simplified Controls
  • Blind Spot Camera
  • Edit Waypoints
  • Sonic the Hedgehog

And many more!

New V11 photos reveal blind spot camera, new speedometer layout, more

I have to say that the blind spot camera shows up in a bit of an odd place, but I can’t think of a better option, to be honest, and it is a great addition! Thank you John TOSV for requesting this one a long time ago 🙂

Refreshed Model S & X

Cyberpunk and the Witcher are still coming to the refreshed S and X

Tesla showcased the Cyberpunk at the Model S delivery event, but it wasn’t until this week that we heard an update about it. Elon confirmed he is hoping they get released next quarter. According to Elon, the team is debating between making individual games work well or directing those efforts towards generalized gaming simulation.

Tesla rolls out Active Road Noise Reduction for new Model S and Model X

In the first videos, the noise reduction seems subtle but noticeably better. Since this is just the first software version of the feature, we can assume it will get better over time.

Refreshed Model S spotted with new taillights presumably for CCS compatibility

Tesla needs to start shipping this to Europe soon, folks there have been waiting for a long time now for the refreshed S!

FSD Beta

Release notes for FSD Beta V10.7

Detailed notes for FSDBeta v10.7 were posted by our friend DirtyTesla. Too many improvements to list here, take a look!

Improved trajectory visualization

One of the improvements listed in the notes above is the updated trajectory line visualization. In the new version, the line is similar to the visualization in NoA. It looks much cleaner!

Tesla Store

Wall Connector Color Matched Faceplate

Multiple companies out there, including our friends from Tesbros, sell vinyl wraps for your wall connector. This week, Tesla started selling faceplates that perfectly match the color of your car.

Batteries

Tesla Megapack, Oxnard, CA

In Oxnard, California, the community came together to advocate against the installation of a new fossil fuel-powered peaker plant. In its place, Tesla energy installed 142 Tesla Megapacks as a sustainable energy storage solution. Great work Oxnard’s community!

How a Lithium-Ion battery actually works

Super interesting and educative video about how Lithium-Ion batteries work. Worth watching!

💡 Tip of the week

You can format the USB for the Dashcam / Sentry directly from your car, to do that:

  • Plugin your USB in the car
  • Navigate to Controls > Safety > Security
  • Scroll down until ‘FORMAT USB DEVICE’ and tap on it
  • Confirm by selecting ‘FORMAT’

🤓 What the acronym?

As Tesla fan I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.

  • CCS - Combined Charging System
  • FSD - Full Self-Driving
  • NoA - Navigate on Autopilot
  • TOSV - Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley
