Issue 180 - Tesla Model S door handle evolution
A former Tesla engineer did a great video explaining how the design of the self-presenting door handles in the S has changed over time.
Nice! My sweaty butt is jealous of the ventilated seats.
It looks like Tesla might be using a separate app for these other cars and that they’ve already tested 14 different EVs. It makes sense they start this program in Europe since cars there use the CCS combo plug, which means any EVs can plug in the Superchargers without an adapter.
More and more Superchargers keep popping up between San Francisco and Los Angeles. I hope that helps during the times there is heavy traffic and long waiting times at chargers in that corridor.
For perspective, Tesla currently has around 25,000 Superchargers worldwide; this new factory allows them to keep growing their Superchargers at the same pace they increase the car production.
This hacker was able to install and activate FSD Beta in the Ukraine. Considering this shouldn’t be done, Tesla hasn’t done specific training for their set of traffic signs and I’m sure maps aren’t the best, I think it isn’t half bad!
Giga Nevada - the first Giga Factory - has built 1,000,000 battery packs since it started operating in 2017. Good job team!
After Texa’s grid went down last winter, it is clear their current infrastructure isn’t ready for the world we live in. Well, it seems that Tesla wants to collaborate and applied to the Texas Public Utility Commission to enter in the electricity market in the state.
💡 Tip of the week
Since 2021.24, you can double-tap on an album cover to minimize the music player when it’s taking the whole screen.
🤓 What the acronym?
As Tesla fan I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
- CCS - Combined Charging System
- EV - Electric Vehicle
- FSD - Full Self-Driving
- IR - Infra Red
